BlackRock Bolsters Aladdin with Agentic, Gen AI
BlackRock has been busy beefing up its Aladdin platform with generative and agentic artificial intelligence for investment and operational processes, firm executives told FundFire.
Aladdin’s latest AI upgrades “reflect a broader shift already underway across investment operations,” as AI moves “beyond workflow assistance and into areas that directly shape execution, exception management, compliance interpretation, and portfolio decision support,” said Pat Conroy, a vice president of global business development at STP Investment Services, in an email.
Many asset managers using Aladdin, as well as SimCorp, State Street Alpha and Linedata are asking for more automation around reconciliations, compliance rule translation, data validation, and portfolio analytics, and those providers have been building out their AI capabilities in various ways, he added.
“Firms want to reduce manual work, shorten exception cycles, and give teams better tools to process growing volumes of investment and operational data,” he said.
Still, if a firm’s underlying data is fragmented, if workflows are inconsistent, or governance is not clearly defined, it may be difficult to realize the benefits of AI, Conroy said.
